Peter is a Spine Surgeon practicing in Auckland, New Zealand. He is a busy clinician working in Private Practice recently completing 30 years at Auckland Public Hospital, where he headed the Spine Team and the Spine Fellowship Program. His current practice has evolved to degenerative reconstruction for lumbar and cervical pathologies. Peter is an Orthopaedic Surgeon who completed his Spinal Fellowships at the Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney, and then the University of Vermont, USA. Through his clinical career he has maintained a research focus including clinical and biomechanical research, implant design, and a major interest with the University of Auckland Engineering Department and their research understanding lumbar disc prolapse and disc failure. Peter has also had significant governance roles as a recent President of the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association and current President of the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine.
